My son, Ethan, won Best In Show at the parish-wide art contest sponsored by the Terrebonne Parish Fine Arts Guild on Sunday, March 24, 2002. We were treated to a public showing and refreshments at the Fine Arts Guild Gallery. The Houma Courier, our local newspaper, did an interview with Ethan and will publish an article on him in an upcoming issue.

He competed in the 4th - 8th grade competition (Ethan is a 6th-grader).
His subject was modeled after his grandfather on his father's side, and even though Ethan and his sister, Rebecca, are Houmas Indians, no ones dresses ceremonial unless there is an intra-tribal event, such as a Pow-wow.

The winning pencil and charcoal by Ethan is his idea of what his grandfather would look like in everyday head-dress if we lived in the "old days."
His grandfather, Joseph Linsey Molinere, is the Medicine Man of our local "band" of Houmas and a Treateur for heat.

Ethan is in the Gifted and Talented Art Program atschool and plans to make art part of his career. I am very proud of my son!
